OUR HISTORY:
Kaplan Electric opened its’ doors in 1985 as a simple one-man electrical contracting business. It was originally owned solely by Dan Kaplan, a master electrician; soon, however, Dan’s brother, Steve, also a master electrician, joined the business.

In the late 1990’s, Dan was solicited by United Electric to be a project superintendent for 3 large projects at SeaWorld – Orlando, one of which was to run a 7.5 million dollar electrical job to completely wire the new interactive waterpark. Dan returned to Kaplan Electric in 2000 and Steve and Dan incorporated in 2003, both as principal officers.

Kaplan Electric is a fully insured and bonded residential and commercial contractor. We have over 20 years experience with remodels, renovations, new houses, commercial wiring, generator installation and service work. We own much of our own equipment: backhoe, loader, ditchwitch, small dump truck, manlift and a 42’ work-rated bucket truck. We also specialize in lightning rod installation.

Our team is currently made up of nearly 20 licensed electricians (over 70% either a journeyman or master), a design engineer, a procurement specialist/project manager, propane technicians, administrative staff and our office manager. We pride ourselves in not only having someone always available in our office to handle the needs of our bigger contractors, but also to handle the “simple questions” a homeowner may have. We are able to be there for any job, any time. We care about the community we serve and understand the importance in being available at all times.

The office in Winthrop is split into mainly two divisions: commercial & residential. Steve oversees most of the residential and light commercial side of things, while Dan oversees most of the large commercial jobs.
